..once we got the Somos youth group together in a meeting we started coming up with ideas and learning things about Guatemala and the situation there. As soon as I learned more about Guatemala I was even more determined to do something. I feel so lucky to be able to be part of this project from the ground up, I really feel like we will have a big impact on Guatemala and maybe even the world.

After our first meeting, hearing that the poverty rate in Guatemala is so high, but only 3% of the population is unemployed ? they?re working poor. It shocked me that living conditions could be so bad .

I got interested in this project because it was a way for me to be able to help from the ground up. Plus it is a great way for youth to get involved and be able to help some kind of cause. I also think that the people that are a part of the project are amazing and committed people, and with everyone working together I can see that this projects will be a great success.
